Intermatic challenged Visualize to develop a home automation system from scratch. Not just a single product, but a whole ecosystem of smart components. We gladly met that challenge.
We often we work on one or two aspects of a client’s product development project. For Intermatic, Visualize handled everything. We were responsible for the complete end-to-end development of the entire suite of 10 home automation products. In navigating the dense intellectual property surrounding home automation, we also generated seven new patentable ideas.
Initial competitive and style research established an aesthetic vocabulary for the system that was clean and contemporary. In developing the 10-component system, we covered the gamut of electrical engineering, software and firmware development, industrial design, mechanical engineering, and manufacturing make-ready. Technology included RF communication links, line powered applications, battery powered devices, battery charge systems, FCC and CSA certifications, noise immunity, lightning protection, user interface development, and protocol enhancement.
Our integrated product development capabilities enabled us to develop interfaces real people can use — providing intuitive enhancements to the Z-Wave protocol. Our efforts captured the true spirit of the industrial design while appropriately packaging the electronics in order to meet all performance specifications.
